Food Service strives is to promote child wellness by assisting families in meeting each child’s nutrition needs & establishing good eating habits that nurture healthy development & promote life-long being.Food Service provides:
- Breakfast & lunch for AM Class; Lunch & snack for PM Class;
- Meal patterns are planned according to the USDA CACFP guidelines for children 1-5 years old;
- Use a 5 week menu cycle that ensures a wide variety of protein, whole grains, fresh fruits & vegetables;
- Family Style meal service which builds children’s confidence & social skills;
- For the individual needs of children with special dietary needs & cultural preferences;
- Food Service Staff are all Food Handler Certified;
- Include Food experiences that help children to accept a wide variety of foods;
- Allow children to experience the senses of touch, smell, taste, hearing & seeing;
- Allow children to handle food, mix it, prepare it & taste it;
Nutrition education opportunities…
FCF provides menu planning twice a year to educate parents & staff about nutrition, the nutrition programs requirements, and for parents & staff to have input on the menu selection. FCF’s menus are approved by a community dietitian, and also are submitted to the State Department of Education for review by their dietitian.
