The federal Head Start program was started in 1965 as an initiative to help communities address the needs of disadvantaged children. Modern Head Start has as its goal increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income and disadvantaged families.
Friends of Children and Families, Inc. (FCF) is the non-profit organization that operates the Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Mountain Home and Glenn's Ferry, Idaho.
Head Start Services
FCF provides a high-quality early childhood experience to prepare children for kindergarten and life-long learning. In addition, FCF provides holistic family support services to ensure that families are self-sufficient. If your child is three or four years of age, your family may qualify for the Head Start program.
Early Head Start Services
Early Head Start (EHS) offers free, comprehensive services for expectant parents and infants and toddlers, birth to 36 months.
